Aliexpress, one of the world’s largest online retail marketplaces, is working on a new logistics solution involving Cainiao, another company from the Alibaba Group, a well-known shipping service provider.

The upgrade covers most of the delivery stages, including warehouses in China and other countries, an increased number of air charters to speed up delivery, and in some cases - a self-pickup network to improve the time needed on the last mile.

At the moment, the company set up five warehouses in China to pre-stock the items. Nine newly constructed sorting centers prepare the packages faster to load them on about 80 charter flights every week. The delivery time varies from 5 business days for South Korea to 10 business days for France and Spain and 12 business days for Brazil. The company also has plans to expand the service in Europe further.

Additional service that will also be available in Spain and France before the Global Shopping Festival, which starts on 11.11, is called “On-time Guarantee”. This service allows the customer to receive a $1 reimbursement per order with delayed delivery.

As for the last mile - the company launched a network of more than twenty thousand collection points in four countries. The points will have automatic lockers to allow the customers to pick up their purchases whenever convenient.
